Tad told one lie. From his perspective.

He knows exactly how control can be seized from Tessa by Kenneth or anyone.

But what would be left of him wouldn't be worth seizing. I'm just talking about how Kenneth could get control here. Even if Kenneth figures it out, there is a chance it won't even work.

He was truthful in that he only has guesses about how actual deprogramming would work for him. How do you undo a decade of programming?

Tad didn't understand what the imprint on Tessa was until they talked on the phone and she gave her first directive.at 15:57 in my video. He very much understood how it felt to get a vocal directive from his handler. He is no longer confused about what this is after that point in the video.

He also finally understood why any part of him that may have wanted to hurt her was shut down immediately. That is simply not allowed without her allowing it in a very specific way.
